Our Partners in Uganda
A Message from Pastor Frank Mukiliza
Senior Pastor of Jesus Power Church, Kampala, Uganda

CELEBRATING GOD’S GOODNESS - HE HAS DONE MIGHTY THINGS

I bring you greetings in the Mighty Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from Jesus Power Church, Kampala, Uganda.
In 2005, our ministry went through many struggles and trials.  Our place of worship, a hall we were renting, was turned into a bar by a businessman.  So we found land where we put a temporary structure but it was not good for people to worship.  Our church service had to be in a tent.  After worship the tent was taken down which meant it was a mobile church. On Sunday we were there, on Monday you couldn’t find us.Many people started to join other ministries and we were losing members who wouldn’t travel by foot to far-away places.  Our orphanage centre was closed due to a lack of good facilities to keep the children.  We looked like failures.

In 2006, with a lot of prayers, support from the church, and with faith I left my home country to travel to the USA to look for ministry partners who can work with us, help us in the work of God.  With a lot of difficulties, no one to introduce me, no one knowing me, I was rejected by many who questioned who I was and where I was from.

But then God joined me to Trinity Covenant Church in Lexington. There Pastor Douglas Cederberg introduced me to the congregation, and they received me with joy, love, and care.  They supported me without questions which confirmed to me it was a divine connection.

Since then, Trinity Covenant Church has been in a strong ministry bond of fellowship and affiliation with us.  Four times they have sent mission teams to Uganda visiting Jesus Power Church.  My friend and brother Todd Klipp has come each time and shown God’s love to my people.  They have sponsored 3 of our church pastors for theology and ministry studies – one in America, South Africa and Uganda. Ten of our church members that had stopped schooling due to finances have been sponsored in colleges and other programs so that they now have a future.

With the support from the Hearts and Hands ministry at Trinity Covenant Church, we have accomplished many other good things:

  • We leased new land and a good church structure was constructed.
  • We have opened a JPC internet café which provides computer training, jobs, and income from people who use our facilities.
  • Church members have received support for businesses so they can support themselves and their families.
  • Monthly support is sent to our church and families which is helping us have better lives with food, medication, house rent, and school fees for our children.
  • The blessing is flowing to the body of Christ in Kampala as Pastor Doug every year holds a pastors and leaders conference which has helped us a lot.
  • The orphanage centre is getting a new look as we managed to buy land and school construction is in progress. Sandy Gannon loves and cares for the orphans and is doing her best to fundraise for the project.

We feel happy and blessed.

Ministry is far better than it was four years ago.  The burden is light, never heavy.
We see light instead of darkness.

May God bless the Hearts and Hands ministry for this partnership and support.

Yours in Ministry,
Pastor Frank Mukiliza

UPDATE - September 2010:

Dear Friends in Christ:

We are now entering our fifth year of ministry partnership with Trinity Covenant Church.  They opened their hearts to love us and their hands have upheld us through many challenges.  A lot has been achieved, as you can see from reading this website.  Many young people have been sent back to school to receive a good education and valuable training.  Others have been supported in their businesses.  Hearts and Hands has provided great support for the Bakka orphanage and for the Lucky Star School where many children are being cared for.  We now have hope and a future.

Many challenges still remain, and we will be grateful for your prayers and financial support.  May God bless all of you who have partnered with us.

Pr. Frank Mukiliza
